Patanjali Swarna Kanti Cream 50 g pack

Patanjali Swarna Kanti Cream is one of those products that gets bought on name alone. “Swarna Kanti” means “golden glow”, and that is a promise most of us would like a face cream to keep. This review looks at it plainly: what it is, what to check on the label, how to use it for the best result, and who should be careful.

What it is

Swarna Kanti Cream is an Ayurvedic face cream from Patanjali’s personal care range. According to Patanjali’s description, it is designed to:

  • moisturise and soften the skin
  • support a natural glow and an even-looking skin tone
  • help the skin look fresh and healthy
  • be light enough for daily use

It is a cosmetic moisturiser. It is not a treatment for pigmentation disorders, melasma, acne or any skin disease, and it is not a sunscreen.

Ingredients: how to read the label

Patanjali describes Swarna Kanti Cream as made with Ayurvedic herbal extracts in a moisturising cream base. The full ingredient list is printed on the carton, and formulations can change, so we recommend reading the carton on your own pack rather than relying on lists copied online.

When you read it, here is what to look for:

On the labelWhat it tells you
Herbal extractsNames such as saffron (Kesar), turmeric (Haldi), Aloe vera, sandalwood (Chandan) or Manjishtha are common in Ayurvedic glow creams. Check which ones this cream actually lists.
Order of ingredientsIngredients are usually listed from highest to lowest amount. Herbs near the end are present in small quantities.
Fragrance or perfumeA common cause of irritation for sensitive skin.
Base ingredientsWater, oils, emollients and emulsifiers that make up the cream itself.
PreservativesNormal and necessary in water-based creams, but worth noting if you know you react to a particular one.
SPFIf no SPF is stated, the cream does not protect you from the sun.

If you have reacted to a cosmetic before, take a photo of the ingredient list so you can compare it with products that have caused problems.

How to apply it

Patanjali’s directions are simple, and they work:

  1. Wash your face with a mild face wash and pat it dry.
  2. Take a small amount, roughly the size of a pea for the face, a little more if you include the neck.
  3. Dot it on the forehead, cheeks, nose, chin and neck.
  4. Massage gently in upward circular strokes until absorbed.
  5. Use twice a day, morning and night.

Getting the best result

  • Apply on slightly damp skin. Moisturisers work better when they lock in a little water.
  • Morning: always follow with sunscreen. This is the single biggest factor in an even skin tone. Patanjali Sun Screen Cream SPF 30 is one option.
  • Night: you can pair it with an oil. Many people use a few drops of Kumkumadi Thailam at night and the cream in the morning. See Kumkumadi Oil vs Kumkumadi Cream and Face Serums.
  • Give it four to six weeks of regular use before judging.

Who should patch test

Everyone should patch test a new face cream, but it is especially important if you:

  • have sensitive skin that reacts to new products
  • have eczema, rosacea or dermatitis
  • have reacted to fragrance or preservatives before
  • have acne-prone skin
  • are pregnant, when skin can become more reactive

How to patch test

  1. Apply a small amount to the inside of your forearm or behind your ear.
  2. Leave it for 24 hours without washing the area.
  3. If you see redness, itching, bumps or burning, do not use it on your face.
  4. If there is no reaction, try it on a small patch of your jawline for a day or two before using it all over.

Other precautions

  • For external use only.
  • Avoid contact with your eyes.
  • Stop using it if irritation occurs.
  • Do not apply on broken, sunburnt or inflamed skin.
  • Store in a cool, dry place with the lid closed.

Small pack vs 50 g

We stock the 50 g pack. You may also see smaller tubes of Swarna Kanti Cream in some shops. If you are comparing:

  • A smaller pack is useful as a trial if you are not sure the cream suits your skin, or for travel.
  • The 50 g pack usually works out better value per gram if you already know you like it.
  • Compare price per gram, not just the pack price.
  • Check the expiry date. A cream used twice a day should be finished well before it expires.

Our honest verdict

Swarna Kanti Cream is a straightforward herbal moisturiser that suits people who want a light, daily face cream with an Ayurvedic positioning. Its value is in regular moisturising, used alongside gentle cleansing and daily sunscreen. It will not lighten your skin, remove pigmentation or replace a dermatologist’s treatment, and nothing applied once a day for a week will. Used consistently, as part of a sensible routine, it can help your skin feel softer and look fresher.

Other products customers often compare it with include Patanjali Anti Aging Cream and Kerala Ayurveda Kumkumadi Thailam. Our earlier Swarna Kanti Cream uses and benefits guide has more background.
