Patanjali’s Divya Vasant Kusumakar Ras comes in a pack small enough to fit in your palm: one gram. People are often surprised by that, and by the price. Both make sense once you understand what Vasant Kusumakar Ras is and how it is meant to be used.
This guide is specifically about the Patanjali (Divya Pharmacy) version. For the formula in general, including the Dabur and other brand packs, see Vasant Kusumakar Ras: Ingredients, Traditional Uses and Precautions.
What it is: a classical Rasayana
Vasant Kusumakar Ras is one of Ayurveda’s best-known gold-containing formulations, described in Bhaishajya Ratnavali. The name is poetic. Vasant is spring and Kusumakar means a mass of flowers, or the season of blossoming. It suggests renewal, which is how the formula is thought of: as a Rasayana, a rejuvenating medicine for strength and healthy ageing.
It belongs to the Rasa Aushadhi group, medicines made with purified metals and minerals. Patanjali’s version is made by Divya Pharmacy, Haridwar.

How the Bhasmas are processed
Every mineral in this formula goes through two classical stages:
- Shodhana (purification): each metal or mineral is purified by heating and quenching it in specific liquids, or boiling it with herbs, as the Rasashastra texts describe.
- Marana (incineration): the purified material is ground with herbal juices, shaped into small cakes, dried and heated in sealed clay containers. This is repeated many times until the material becomes a fine ash that passes the classical quality tests, such as floating on water and not shining when rubbed between the fingers.
Pearl and coral are handled differently. They are made into Pishti by grinding with rose water for many days, without heat.
Finally, all the Bhasmas are combined and ground repeatedly with the listed herbal juices (bhavana).
This lengthy process, along with gold and silver as raw materials, explains why a 1 g pack costs over a thousand rupees. It also explains why quality differs so much between makers. A Bhasma that has not been fully processed may still contain metal particles, which is why we always recommend licensed manufacturers only.
Traditional use: Patanjali Vasant Kusumakar Ras benefits
Based on the classical texts and the product description, Patanjali Divya Vasant Kusumakar Ras is traditionally used:
- in Prameha, Ayurveda’s category of metabolic and urinary disorders, as physician-guided supportive therapy
- as a Rasayana to support strength, vitality and healthy ageing
- to support the nerves and heart, in the traditional view
- in general weakness and fatigue, as advised by a physician
It does not replace any prescribed medicine. If you have diabetes, please read Vasant Kusumakar Ras and Blood Sugar: What Ayurveda Actually Says before starting, and never stop your diabetes medicines without your doctor.
Patanjali Vasant Kusumakar Ras benefits in Hindi
Dosage: physician-led
Because Patanjali’s version is a fine powder in a 1 g pack, the dose is measured in milligrams and decided by your Ayurvedic doctor. It is usually given with honey, milk or butter as the anupana.
Practical points:
- Ask your doctor exactly how to measure the dose at home.
- Take it for the duration prescribed, then go back for review.
- Never adjust the dose yourself.
- If measuring milligrams at home is difficult, ask whether a tablet form such as Dabur Vasant Kusumakar Ras Gold would suit you better.
Precautions
- Not for pregnant or breastfeeding women, or children.
- Liver, kidney or heart conditions, high blood pressure or diabetes: consult your doctor before use.
- Regular medicines: tell your doctors everything you take.
- Warning signs: stop and see a doctor if you notice tremors, dizziness, stomach upset or an allergic reaction.
- Tests: ask whether kidney and liver function tests are advisable during the course.
