Patanjali Divya Yogendra Ras comes in a 1 gram pack with very little instruction on the box beyond “as directed by the physician”. That is deliberate. Yogendra Ras contains gold and Ras Sindoor, a classical mercury-sulphur preparation, along with other mineral Bhasmas. It is not the kind of medicine you work out the dose for yourself.
This guide covers what you should know about dosage, side effects, precautions and interactions before you take it, and what to ask your doctor.
A quick reminder of what it is
Yogendra Ras is a classical Rasa Aushadhi described in Bhaishajya Ratnavali. Patanjali’s version is made by Divya Pharmacy, Haridwar, and contains Ras Sindoor, Swarna Bhasma, Kant Lauh, Abhrak, Mukta and Vang Bhasma, processed with Aloe vera juice. It is traditionally used for Vata disorders affecting the nerves and muscles, nerve strength, heart support under supervision, and as a Rasayana.

Dosage: practitioner-directed
Why there is no simple dose on the pack
Rasa Aushadhis are given in milligram doses. The right amount depends on:
- your age, weight and digestive strength
- the condition being treated and how long you have had it
- your kidney and liver health
- what other medicines you take
Only a registered Ayurvedic practitioner can weigh these up. So the dose of Patanjali Yogendra Ras is whatever your doctor prescribes, usually a very small amount, once or twice a day, for a defined period.
Anupana
Yogendra Ras is usually taken with honey or milk. Some doctors choose a different anupana, such as a specific herbal decoction, depending on the condition. Use what your prescription says.
Measuring at home
With a powder in a 1 g pack, measuring is the practical challenge:
- Ask your doctor to show you exactly how to measure your dose, or to divide it into portions for you.
- Do not guess with a kitchen spoon. A “pinch” can easily be several times the intended dose.
- If measuring is difficult, ask whether a tablet form such as Dabur Yogendra Ras with Gold would suit you better.
Missed doses
Take the next dose at the usual time. Do not double up.
Patanjali Yogendra Ras side effects
Taken correctly under supervision, many people tolerate Yogendra Ras without problems. But as with any metal-containing medicine, you should know the warning signs.
Stop taking it and see a doctor if you notice:
- tremors or shakiness
- dizziness or unusual tiredness
- nausea, vomiting, stomach pain or persistent loose stools
- a metallic taste that does not go away
- excessive salivation or gum problems
- rash, itching or swelling
- any change in urine, such as reduced output
These do not necessarily mean the medicine is harmful, but they need checking.
Precautions
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Yogendra Ras is not for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
Children
It is not for children.
Long-term use
Yogendra Ras is meant to be taken as a course, not indefinitely. Ask your doctor:
- how long the course should be
- when you should come back for review
- whether you need blood tests, such as kidney and liver function, before and during the course
Long, unsupervised use of any Ras medicine increases the risk of side effects.
Existing conditions
Consult your doctor before use if you have:
- liver disease
- kidney disease
- heart disease or high blood pressure
- diabetes
Possible interactions: discuss with your doctor
Formal interaction studies on Yogendra Ras are lacking, so the safest approach is to assume it could interact and to be open with both your Ayurvedic doctor and your regular doctor. In particular, mention:
- heart medicines, including blood pressure medicines and blood thinners
- diabetes medicines or insulin
- medicines for epilepsy, Parkinson’s or other neurological conditions
- any other Ayurvedic Ras medicines or Bhasmas, such as Rasraj Ras, Vrihat Vat Chintamani Ras or Swarna Bhasma, since combining them increases your total metal intake
- herbal supplements, even ones you consider harmless
Bring a written list of everything you take to your appointment.
Storage
- Keep the container tightly closed, in a cool, dry place away from sunlight.
- Use a clean, dry measure each time. Moisture can spoil the powder.
- Keep it well out of reach of children. A small amount that is a normal adult dose could be dangerous for a child.
- Keep the outer box with the batch number until you finish the pack.
- Do not use it after the expiry date.
How to spot a genuine pack
- Seals: both the box and the inner container should be sealed.
- Label: Divya Pharmacy, Haridwar, with drug licence number, batch number, manufacturing date and expiry.
- Composition: each Bhasma listed with quantity.
- Print quality: compare with a pack you know is genuine.
- Price: be cautious of prices well below the usual listed price.
- Seller: a licensed pharmacy or established store.
