Patanjali Divya Rasraj Ras 1 g pack

If your Ayurvedic doctor has written “Rasraj Ras” on a prescription without naming a brand, you will find at least three options at a chemist: Patanjali (Divya Pharmacy), Baidyanath and Dabur. They are all based on the same classical formula, yet the packs, forms and prices are quite different. This makes comparison harder than it should be.

This guide puts them side by side. We stock the Patanjali and Dabur versions, so we can speak about those from the actual packs. For Baidyanath, we tell you what to look for rather than guess at details we cannot verify.

First, what does “Rasraj Ras Gold” mean?

Rasraj Ras is a classical Rasa Aushadhi, an Ayurvedic medicine made with purified metals and minerals. It is described in Bhaishajya Ratnavali for Vata Vyadhi, the group of disorders Ayurveda links with Vata dosha, especially those affecting the nerves and muscles.

The classical recipe already includes Swarna Bhasma (processed gold) along with Ras Sindoor, Abhrak Bhasma, Lauh, Rajat and Vang Bhasma, and herbs such as Ashwagandha, clove and nutmeg. When a brand prints “with gold” or “Swarna Yukt” on the pack, it is telling you that Swarna Bhasma is part of its preparation. This matters because gold is the most expensive ingredient and some cheaper “Rasraj” type products in the market leave it out.

The only reliable way to know is the composition panel on the pack, which should list each Bhasma and its quantity per tablet or per gram.

Why the Patanjali pack is only 1 gram

People are often surprised that a ₹1,600 pack of Patanjali Rasraj Ras contains just one gram. Rasa Aushadhis are prescribed in milligram doses, so a single gram can last for many doses. The trade-off is that you need your doctor to tell you exactly how much to take and how to measure it, usually with honey or milk as the anupana (the carrier).

Why tablets can be easier

With Dabur’s tablets, the dose is already measured. The pack guidance is 1 tablet once or twice a day with honey or milk, or as your doctor prescribes. For people taking it at home over several weeks, that consistency is the main advantage.

Which one should you buy?

Honestly, the brand matters less than three other things:

  1. What your doctor prescribed. Some practitioners have a preferred maker whose preparation they have used for years. Ask before you switch.
  2. Whether the composition includes Swarna Bhasma, if your prescription specifically says Rasraj Ras with gold.
  3. How you will measure the dose. If you cannot measure milligrams accurately at home, a tablet form is safer.

If you are comparing on price, do it per dose, not per pack. A 1 g pack and a 10-tablet pack are not directly comparable.

How to spot a genuine sealed pack

Gold-containing medicines are a target for fakes. Before paying, check:

  • The seal. The outer box and inner container should both be sealed and untampered.
  • Label details. Batch number, manufacturing date, expiry date and the manufacturer’s drug licence number should be printed clearly.
  • Composition panel. Each Bhasma should be listed with its quantity.
  • Price that looks too good. If a gold Rasa Aushadhi is selling far below the brand’s listed price, be cautious.
  • The seller. Buy from a pharmacy or an established online store, not from social media sellers.

Every pack we ship is brand-sealed with the batch number and expiry printed on it.

Who should be careful

Rasraj Ras is not for self-medication. It is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding women or children. Anyone with liver, kidney or heart problems, high blood pressure or diabetes, or who takes regular medicines, needs their doctor’s approval first. Stop and see a doctor if you notice tremors, dizziness, stomach upset or a rash.

For a plain-language overview of uses and ingredients, see our guide Rasraj Ras uses in Hindi and the Dabur product guide, Dabur Rasraj Ras with Gold: benefits and uses.

Why Rasraj Ras costs what it does

Rasraj Ras is one of the pricier medicines on any Ayurvedic shelf, and the reasons are worth knowing because they also help you spot fakes.

  • Gold and silver. Swarna Bhasma and Rajat Bhasma are made from precious metals, so the raw material cost sets a floor price.
  • Long preparation. Each metal is purified and turned into Bhasma through many rounds of grinding with herbal juices and controlled heating. Ras Sindoor is prepared separately. Then the whole formula is ground again with herbal juices (bhavana) several times.
  • Testing. Responsible makers test their Bhasmas and finished batches, which adds cost.
  • Small yield. A large amount of material and labour produces a small quantity of finished medicine.

So if you find a “gold” Rasraj Ras at a fraction of the usual price, it is fair to ask what has been left out.

Reading the composition panel

A genuine pack should list each component with its quantity, either per tablet or per gram. Here is what to look for on a Rasraj Ras label:

Listed on the packWhy it matters
Swarna Bhasma, with quantityConfirms it is the gold version your doctor may have prescribed
Ras SindoorA core ingredient of the classical formula
Abhrak, Lauh, Rajat and Vang BhasmaThe other classical Bhasmas
Ashwagandha, Lavang, JaiphalThe herbal part of the formula
Bhavana dravyaThe herbal juices used in processing
Reference textOften Bhaishajya Ratnavali

If a pack only says “Ayurvedic herbs and minerals” or lists ingredients without quantities, compare it with another brand before you buy.

Dose, anupana and storage

Whichever brand you choose, a few things stay the same:

  • Dose is decided by your doctor. With the 1 g Patanjali pack, ask exactly how to measure it at home, since doses are in milligrams. With Dabur tablets, the pack guidance is 1 tablet once or twice a day, or as prescribed.
  • Anupana, the carrier, is usually honey or milk.
  • Diet during a Vata course usually means warm, freshly cooked food, less cold and dry food, and a regular routine.
  • Storage: keep the container tightly closed in a cool, dry place, out of children’s reach. Keep the outer box with the batch number until the pack is finished.
  • Duration: take it as a course and go back for review. Do not keep refilling it for months without seeing your doctor.

Switching between brands mid-course

People sometimes switch brands because one is out of stock or cheaper. If you need to switch:

  1. Tell your doctor first, especially if you are moving between the powder and tablet forms, as the dose will be measured differently.
  2. Compare the composition panels to make sure both contain Swarna Bhasma if your prescription says “with gold”.
  3. Do not take two brands at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch from Patanjali Rasraj Ras to Dabur tablets?

Yes, but ask your doctor first so they can convert your dose between the powder and tablet forms.

There is no independent study comparing the brands. All three follow the classical formula. Choose the one your doctor recommends and check that the composition matches your prescription.

Does every Rasraj Ras contain gold?

The classical formula does. Check the composition panel on the pack to confirm Swarna Bhasma is listed.
